MOP tenders, Piñera opens highway, China agreement (Regional)

Panama's public works ministry (MOP) has tendered a project to complete studies, final designs, and construction of the Camino Tortí highway.

MOP has set a reference price of US$69mn for the highway linking San Buenaventura, Brujas and Gonzalo Vásquez, according to the tender documents on state procurement site PanamaCompra.

Bids are due May 25 and will be opened the same day.

Chile's public works ministry (MOP) has received three bids for a maintenance tender for highway Ruta A-93 in northernmost region XV. 

Leandro Sembler, Remavesa and Ingeniería Maquinaria y Construcción all submitted offers. 

Work involves paving and maintenance on the 12km stretch between towns Cruzvilque and Visviri, the regional ministry office said in a release. MOP is financing the paving of 12km, which will cost some 1.01bn pesos (US$2.15mn).

Also in Chile, President Sebastián Piñera opened the second stretch of the four-lane Caldera-Vallenar highway in northern region III.

The four-lane stretch runs 64.6km from the Toledo district of regional capital Copiapó to Vallenar, the government said in a release.

The full Caldera-Vallenar highway is 227km long and required an investment of 7.23mn UF (inflation-linked units, about US$333mn).

Venezuela's transport and communications ministry met with representatives of China's development bank to work on a planning and development agreement.

The two countries aim to sign an agreement to help Venezuela plan and develop various infrastructure projects. The ministry in particular is working on development of the country's transport systems, according to a government release.

Chinese officials will visit public works projects on April 28 before the countries finalize an agreement.
