Shakeup at Ferrobaires over February accident (Argentina)
2011-04-27

Argentina's Buenos Aires provincial government has replaced several high-ranking officials at state-owned rail operator Ferrobaires following a rail accident in February this year.

General manager Eduardo Gnarini will be replaced by Alejandro Garcia and José Pucciarelli following a review carried out by Ferrobaires trustee Antonio Maltana, local press reported.

The rail firm's operations manager, Daniel Pearse, is being replaced by Emo Martini and Edgardo Ferrari. The company also appointed a new general treasurer and heads of administration and supplies.

Five people were killed and scores of passengers injured on February 16 when a train travelling between districts Retiro and Junín collided with another on the San Martín line between districts Retiro and Pilar.
