Soptravi tenders Gualaco-Bonito Oriental highway modernization (Honduras)
2011-04-15

Honduras' public works, transport and housing ministry (Soptravi) has called for letters of interest for a construction tender to modernize the Gualaco-Bonito Oriental highway linking Olancho and Colón departments.

The project is being partially financed by an IDB loan, according to an IDB project document, which did not specify the estimated cost of the roadworks.

The work is being tendered in two sections: the 42km Gualaco-San Esteban stretch in Olancho department and the 41km stretch from San Esteban to El Carbón in El Paraíso department.

Construction involves stabilizing retaining walls, road repairs, paving and complementary works and is scheduled to take 16 months for complete each stretch.

Expressions of interest for the tender are due to Soptravi by May 27.
