The governments of Uruguay and Argentina have agreed to tender a project to carry out dredging works along the Uruguay river near Argentine city Concepción del Uruguay, Entre Ríos province.
The tender will be launched in 90 days, according to a press release from Uruguay's presidential office.
Work includes increasing the river's depth to some 10.4m. Authorities will also ensure equal navigation conditions are established along the Mitre and San Martín canals.
The Uruguay river forms a boundary between Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay. It forms the eastern border of the provinces of Misiones, Corrientes and Entre Ríos in Argentina and the western borders of departments Artigas, Salto, Paysandú, Río Negro, Soriano and Colonia in Uruguay.
