Brazil's transport infrastructure department (DNIT) is planning to call a 360mn-real (US$218mn) tender by May for repair work on federal highway BR-040 in the southeastern state of Minas Gerais.
The authority is due to hold a public hearing on Friday (Mar 4) in Conselheiro Lafaiete, some 98km south of state capital Belo Horizonte. Tender documents should be ready around 60 days thereafter, DNIT said in a release.
Part of the country's growth acceleration plan (PAC), the work entails restoring 122km of road.
The initiative is divided into two sections, one running between the highway's junction with BR-356 and Conselheiro Lafaiete and the other running from Conselheiro Lafaiete to Ressaquinha.
Besides repaving, work will include construction of viaducts, roundabouts and underpasses.
