Chilean tollroad concessionaire Costanera Norte which operates the expressway of the same name in capital Santiago, has won its appeal to raise tolls this year, the firm said in a filing sent to securities and insurance regulator SVS.
Santiago's eighth district civil court has reversed its previous decision prohibiting the concessionaire from raising its tolls in 2011.
Rates were scheduled to increase on January 10. However, a group of 50 highway users brought a suit to stop the 2011 rate hike.
The court had initially ruled that the firm had a right to increase tolls by 3.5% annually beginning in 2005. However, the increase was first applied in 2004, resulting in higher costs for drivers.
The new ruling said there was no evidence that there had been an improper adjustment of toll rates, local paper El Mercurio reported.
