Public works ministry allocates US$100mn for airport projects (Bolivia)

Bolivia's public works ministry will allocate US$100mn this year to expand airport infrastructure throughout the country, government news agency ABI reported.

 

The Uyuni international airport in Potosí department will open in 2011, according to public works minister Walter Delgadillo. The Cobija terminal in Pando department will be upgraded to become an international airport.

 

Other projects include modernizing the Oruro international airport and beginning construction of Copacabana airport in Santa Cruz. Bolivia's largest airport, Chimoré in Cochabamba, will open the country's first helicopter pilot school.

 

The ministry will also complete studies for aerodromes in cities San Ignacio de Velasco in Santa Cruz department, and in Monteagudo and Puerto Rico in Chuquisaca department.

 

Finally, the ministry expects to complete the final design for Alcantarí international airport in Chuquisaca, Delgadillo said.
