Peru's President Alan García and his Uruguayan counterpart José Mujica have signed four bilateral agreements, including a cooperation deal between the countries' port authorities.
The agreement aims to establish a framework for technical collaboration between the port authorities, and to improve integration between the Montevideo and Callao ports, according to Peru's presidential website.
The entities aim to exchange information and expertise, create seminars, workshops and projects to streamline and modernize port systems, as well as security, legal frameworks, environmental management and overall operations.
García and Mujica also signed cooperation agreements in areas such as health, immigration, education and diplomacy.
