IN BRIEF Rio Grande do Sul plans infrastructure projects for World Cup preparations (Brazil)

Brazil's Rio Grande do Sul state government is planning infrastructure projects to prepare the metropolitan region surrounding state capital Porto Alegre for the 2014 World Cup.

 

The state's department of sports and recreation has developed proposals for infrastructure and logistics projects such as the expansion of roads, the state government said in a release.

 

The proposals will be evaluated on Monday (Jan 11) by a technical group formed by various state departments and another meeting will be held on Jan 13 to present the results of the evaluation.
