Brazil's national airport authority Infraero has extended its bid submission date for a 43.2mn-real (US$25.9mn) tender to pave the runway of Rio de Janeiro's Galeao international airport.
The extension was granted after construction companies Rodoserv Engenharia, Sao Paulo Engenharia and Consbem Construçoes e Comercio questioned various technical aspects of the project, according to an Infraero release.
Originally scheduled for December 28, interested companies and consortiums now have until February 1 to present bids, according to the authority's tender document.
All interested parties are required to carry out a technical visit and the eventual awardee will have 24 months complete work once a service order is signed.
Galeao international airport has the largest runway in Brazil, measuring 4km by 45m. It covers a total area of 712,895m2. The airport is located 20km from downtown Rio de Janeiro.
