Prodemex wins US$478mn highway maintenance contract (Mexico)

The Mexico state (Edomex) government has awarded consortium Prodemex a 5.9bn-peso (US$478mn) public service provision (PPS) contract to carry out maintenance on 70 highways in the state, totaling some 1,300km.

As part of the 20-year contract, the state government will make annual payments of 500mn pesos to the consortium, according to an Edomex release.

The group includes Promotora y Desarrolladora Mexicana (Prodemex), Promotora y Desarrolladora Mexicana de Infraestructura and Conservadora de Autopistas y Vialidades, along with US-based Invecture Group.

The state's use of a PPS contract for road maintenance is unique to the country, and has served as a model for other authorities, said the director of the Edomex road committee, Miguel Angel Vega.
