IN BRIEF Govt approves US$135mn IDB loan for Cortes port upgrade (Honduras)

Honduras' government has signed a US$135mn IDB loan to finance improvements at Cortes port on the Caribbean coast, according to the government's website.

 

The loan will finance 60% of the project, which includes construction of a new container terminal on reclaimed land, as well as the purchase of equipment.

 

Cortes port handles nearly 90% of Honduras' maritime traffic.
