Paraguay's senate has modified and approved a bill to concession capital Asuncion's Silvio Pettirossi international airport.
The bill will now pass to the country's lower house for approval, the public works and communications ministry (MOPC) said in a release.
The proposed legislation was presented by President Fernando Lugo as a matter of urgency in October this year.
The Silvio Pettirossi concession will last a maximum of 30 years and require an estimated US$100mn investment, BNamericas reported previously. The concession involves building, remodeling, expanding, operating and maintaining passenger and cargo terminals, and operating commercial, industrial and service areas.
Guarani airport in Ciudad del Este and the Chaco aerodrome in Mariscal Estigarribia city were also included in the bill, though it has yet to be established whether the three airports will be concessioned separately or as a package.
