Local cement firm to invest US$230mn in Hidalgo plant (Mexico)
2010-12-14
Mexican construction materials firm Trituradora y Procesadora de Materiales Santa Anita has said it will build a cement plant in the town of Santiago de Anaya, in Hidalgo state.

The firm is scheduled to begin construction on the US$230mn project in January, local paper El Milenio reported. The plant will have the capacity to produce 600,000t/y.

Santa Anita has completed all the prerequisites for construction, including obtaining environmental permits, the paper said.

Some 10% of the overall investment will go to purchasing specialized equipment to safeguard the environment around the plant. Along with a waste management plan, the new plant will also incorporate energy-saving measures, including solar panels.
