Latin American development bank CAF has approved a US$300mn loan to finance the Peruvian government's highway repair and improvement program.
The loan will be used to improve infrastructure and safety for roads managed by the transport and communications ministry (MTC) through its national roads authority Provias, CAF said in a release.
The initiative includes carrying out 11 priority projects to repair a total of 942km of highway throughout the country.
Key works will include construction and improvement on the Reposo-Saramiriza highway in Amazonas region and the Camana-Quilca-Matarani-Ilo-Tacna highway.
The program also includes highway repairs in Huanuco, Ucayali, Ancash, Cuzco, San Martin, La Libertad, Lima, Junin, Apurimac and Lambayeque regions.
