Bogota to carry out CAF's US$2.6bn urban tollroad plan (Colombia)
2010-12-01
Colombian capital Bogota will undertake an urban highway improvement program based on plans and studies drawn up by Latin American development bank CAF.

The initiative includes building 13 urban highways extending some 170km and would have a total cost of US$2.6bn, CAF reported on its website.

CAF's plan calls for financing construction and maintenance through concession contracts. According to preliminary schedules, the first highway would be completed in six years, with the entire program completed in 10 years' time.

The project aims to reduce costs and limit congestion, and is part of an overall plan to develop an integrated transport system in Bogota.
