Argentina's Salta province public works department has presented a 2011 budget of 349mn pesos (US$87.9mn) to the state legislature, the provincial government website reported.
The requested budget is more than double the 150mn pesos allocated for public works in 2010. The department has spent 88% of this year's budget to date and expects to use the full amount by year-end, according to public works head Juan Carlos Galarza.
In 2011, the department plans to carry out various road projects, including paving works in western districts and lighting improvements on national highways Ruta 68 and Ruta 9 and provincial highway Ruta 5.
In terms of waterworks, the department is planning to build a main sewerage line and wastewater treatment plant in the north end of provincial capital Salta.
Work is also planned to improve several potable water systems, including networks in Salta's Grand Bourg district and neighborhoods Canillitas, San Lucas and San Mateo.
