MOP to work with UNDP to improve infrastructure investment (El Salvador)
2010-11-16
El Salvador's public works ministry (MOP) has signed an agreement with the UN Development Program (UNDP) to improve the effectiveness of investment in infrastructure development.

The project seeks to optimize the investments of some US$135mn that MOP and national road investment fund Fovial will make in 2010 and 2011, MOP reported on its website.

Under the program, the entities will create a joint execution committee to promote public works construction, particularly reconstruction of infrastructure damaged by Hurricane Ida.

The agreement aims to improve the transparency, quality, efficiency and technical standards of MOP projects, as well as the ministry's capacity to plan and prioritize public works.
