Lafarge Latin America sales up 23% (Regional)
French cement manufacturer Lafarge's sales in the Latin American region rose to 255mn euros (US$359mn) in Q3, up 23% from 208mn euros in the same period last year.

Operating income for the region increased 45% in the quarter to 64mn euros, compared with 44mn euros in 3Q09, the company said in its quarterly results statement.

The firm attributed the increase in operating income to the successful integration of its assets in Brazil since end-July.

Lafarge posted a total net income of 372mn euros for the quarter, down 8% from 404mn euros in the prior-year period.
