Chile's public works ministry (MOP) expects to award the concession of region II's El Loa airport on November 25, a ministry spokesperson told BNamericas.
MOP is schedule to review financial offers on that date and plans to announce the winner immediately afterwards, the spokesperson said, adding that the concession contract should be ready for signing by late December.
Five companies presented technical and economic offers for the airport on October 14. The bidders are: Echeverria-Izquierdo, Azvi Chile, Agunsa, Besalco and consortium A-Port Chile-Icafal.
The airport, located in northern city Calama, is the first to be held for tender under Chile's new concessions framework.
Works will include the expansion of the airport facility, as well as building a new passenger terminal and control tower.
The project will require an estimated US$34mn investment.
