MTOP kicks off studies to expand Azogues-Biblian highway (Ecuador)
2010-10-21
Ecuador's transport and communications ministry (MTOP) has hired local firm Caminosca to complete studies for a highway project in central Cañar province.

The firm will deliver technical specifications to pave and expand the Cuenca-Azogues-Biblian highway, MTOP reported on its website. The studies, which will take eight months to complete, will cost some US$1.2mn.

The project includes building an additional four-lane highway to expand the 19km stretch from provincial capital Azogues to Biblian canton, paper El Tiempo reported.

Work also includes paving the El Salado-Guangarcucho stretch and extending the Guangarcucho-Azogues-Biblian stretch.
