MTOP seeks US$207mn budget for 2011 (Uruguay)
2010-10-05
Uruguay's public works and transport ministry (MTOP) has requested a 4.2bn-peso (US$207mn) budget for 2011, an official from the ministry's planning division told BNamericas.

The proposed budget aims to cover the ministry's operating costs and investments in roads and highways, fluvial navigability, railway projects and port improvements.

Highway and road initiatives to be carried out in 2011 will involve improving and expanding departmental and rural road networks, the official said.

The budget proposal is awaiting approval by legislators, who renewed their discussion of the topic on October 4.
