Mexico's transport and communications ministry (SCT) has completed repair works on road, rail and port infrastructure in Veracruz state that was damaged by Hurricane Karl, SCT said in a release.
Works were carried out on federal highways Xalapa-Veracruz, Puebla-Xalapa, Teziutlan-Perote, Poza Rica-Veracruz, Cordoba-Cardel, Cordoba-Veracruz and Ciudad Aleman-Sayula.
The ministry has spent some 130mn pesos (US$10.4mn) on Veracruz highway repairs so far, local paper El Sol de Cordoba reported.
In addition, SCT has been monitoring ports in Veracruz, including specialized terminals in Tampico, Altamira, Tuxpan, Coatzacoalcos, Dos Bocas and Progreso.
Hurricane Karl affected states bordering with the Mexican gulf, including Quintana Roo, Yucatan, Campeche, Tabasco, Tamaulipas and Veracruz, between September 14 and 18. Karl is the 13th tropical storm registered in Mexico during 2010.
