Peru's private investment promotion agency ProInversion expects to award the Tren Macho rail concession contract in November, a ProInversion official told BNamericas.
Companies interested in taking part in the process have until September 23 to submit documentation and shortlisted firms are scheduled to be announced on October 4.
The shortlisted companies will have to be approved by the comptroller general and that process could take about 10 days, said the official, who requested anonymity. Once the list has been approved, ProInversion will begin the actual tender process.
If no major modifications are made to the latest version of the concession contract, bidders could be submitting their technical and financial bids by end-October or early November, the official said.
ProInversion approved the latest draft of the final version of the concession contract on August 27, but the document is still subject to review and could undergo new changes.
The Tren Macho concession will require an investment of up to US$15mn and includes the rehabilitation and maintenance of the 128km Huancayo-Huancavelica rail line, which connects Junin and Huancavelica regions.
Additional work includes the acquisition or rehabilitation of rolling stock, standardizing the gauge, developing services for passengers and cargo transport, as well as building stations and level crossings.
